Design
The first step to a new kitchen is design. Which asks the questions of which appliances and positions of appliance as well as utilising the space so work in a kitchen is not crammed. And any layout options based on where door and windows are.
Drawing out a room plan then positioning base units, sink, appliances and upper units.
Demolition
The old kitchen is removed to be disposed in a skip. The water / gas / electric is turned off isolated. And care is taken demolishing units with any pipes / cables behind.
First fix
Plumbing and electrical rough ins for appliances gas hob, washing machine, dishwasher, sink. Sockets 32amp fuse for cooker, additional sockets, extractor fan. After the services are installed the walls can get plastered skimmed if need.
Kitchen Fitting
Assembly
Assembling units, levelling units feet, cutting out for sockets and notching for pipes. Fixing to the wall stud or masonry, and fixing units through hinge screw for hidden fixing.
Marking level line for upper units and fixing brackets for top units to slot into. Fitting upper units level and inline. After this upper units are fixed to the wall, the pelmets and cornices can be to cut to length / external mitres and installed.
Alignment Doors and Draws
Fitting Doors, adjusting so minimal gap and opening closing seamlessly, marking up and drilling holes for handles on doors and drawers of units, so handles appear in line and proportion.
Laminate Worktops
Laminate worktops scribing the back edge of worktop to the the wall. Joining worktops with perfect jig cut masons mitre. Routing out joints on the underside of worktops to be bolted together.
Plinth
A plinth is cut to length and installed to clip onto the legs of the base units. These can be installed with led lights and floor blower heater.
2nd Fix
Plumbing in sink, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge water dispenser. Connect hot and cold water pipes, fitting traps and waste pipe. Plumbing in gas hob. Plumbing in outdoor tap.
Tiling back splash above worktops.
Electrics connecting electric oven, screwing sockets face plates. Extractor fan install. Any additional cabinet lightingm
Carpentry, skirting architrave and doors. Attaching integrates appliance doors for washing machine, dish washer.
